Super Powers

I have learned to fall in love with praying. I know that it may sound weird, but I would say if there is any gift that has changed my life for the year 2010 it is that. I have learned that to pray is one of the most amazing gifts that God has allowed us to access anytime of any day.

Yesterday was a tough day for me. It started off wrong and it went from there. I had some running around to do on this house that we are trying to buy, and it took everything I had to make the right decisions with the days responsibilties. Im glad I did, of course, but my heart was troubled and my demeanor was glum.

I swung by Burgerville and bought my self a salad, I really wanted something tastier but I knew that I had to make a good choice somewhere along the way. I decided to run by the vacant house that we are in the midst of purchasing and I sat in the driveway to eat my greens. While sitting there in silence I bowed my head to pray. I knew that I needed to do it earlier, but I didn't make the time with my bad attitude and list of errands to run 'til then. I talked to God about it all. Yes, I even choked up a little, and from that moment on I could see the Lord working. The things I took to Him he began to fix. The day began to turn around.

I still had a heavy heart, I'm not going to lie and say that everything changed for the good, but I'm also going to give God credit and say He did answer my prayer very quickly. The only thing is that the sorrow I had earlier that day opened up an emotional can of worms that I couldn't put the lid back on.

Den had to work late last night and I bemoaned that. So even though God was good and merciful I still had me to work on, but I realized how quickly the Lord showed me His power. Prayer is a powerful thing. Roman said to me yesterday that he wished he had super powers, and I thought we do, we have prayer. I was going to tell my five year old that but if you know my Roman then you know that conversation would have lasted a Coon's age. hehehe But it did make me stop and think about it. and it's rolled over to today.

So this morning Den was getting ready for work. I needed to take him to his job this frigid morning and he was very worried about the big punch list he has today. I knew we needed to pray about it, but it also hit me that Den hadn't prayed for me yesterday before he left. ( You see Den is faithful to pray for me before he heads to work almost every morning). I told Den that his prayers have been so meaningful that the one day he forgot I had a lousy day. We both agreed to pray first thing, together, this morning. We used our super powers and prayed today!

What a beautiful thing to have him with you on that. Prayer is the most wonderful thing. I'm so thankful for the many times God has calmed my heart.
