Is A Cup Just A Cup?

I love coffee cups, especially the ones that are made just right. I love the ones that have a little curve to them in the center of the cup, that way when my hands are a little bit nippy I can grasp it with both hands and tuck my hands around it perfectly. The lip of the cup can't be too thick either, I don't want it to feel like I am drinking out of a bowl; the thinner the better. The handle can't be so dainty that my two fingers get stuck, because I don't know about you, but I don't want to feel like an amazon first thing in the morning. Yep, I am pretty particular about the ones that bring me joy. In fact, last Sunday I was at Sis. Tisha's house and she let me use this gorgeous cup that Bro. Matt bought her. It was so very pretty with pink flowers; very feminine, the only thing that was a little off putting for me was the size. It was huge! I mean I feared I was going to have to use the whole pot of coffee to fill it. I know to some this would have been a jackpot moment, but since I like my hot drinks painfully hot (and I do mean painfully) I knew that I wasn't going to take advantage of that enormous capacity. That was fine though I would contentedly make my light brown concoction and head back to the living room to enjoy all the ladies who were sitting around the room swapping stories. I took my seat across the room and I discovered that when I lifted up the beautiful ceramic piece to my lips the cup was so large that it actually clouded my view of the ladies I was visiting with. In fact, it made me feel a little gluttonous, as if the whole world would shut down while I took my hungry sips...lol There was some giggling for sure. So that is another important piece of criteria for myself when purchasing a cup; must be able to hold eye contact with company while simultaneuously drinking hot liquid. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my java JUST FINE over there, but it sure makes me appreciate the lovely cup that doesn't cover my entire facial features as I take a dainty sip of joe this morning. hehehe

You have many of the same criteria that I do. I hate thick rims, heavy cups, and overly round ones. However, I enjoy my coffee just barely more than warm, so if it is a deep cup I'm still good. The color also makes a difference. I love sweet designs or happy ones. Not too into drab or animal featured ones. The most important part though is the lovely rich coffee inside!

I am picky about my coffee cups, to the point, that I will choose a slightly homely one, over a pretty one to get the right feel. I got a true giggle out this post.

Now who knows when I will comment again. But I am catching up with your posts today.

This made me giggle. I'm a clumsy woman so i go for thick, long lasting cups. Thin coffee cups do not last long in my home. I even break the thick ones now and then =(.

This post made me laugh. I picture the conversation stopping everytime you took a drink, everyones staring at you waiting...kinda like when we're on the phone and you decide to take a guzzle just after I've asked a question. Hello? Hello? ;)

btw I have a new post with photos...I hope I have photos anyway.

You are just too funny! LOL Good thing I wasn't sipping anything right now.

My taste in cups changes often... I bet you'd find the perfect cup amongst my collection. Come up and visit some time!

I'm without internet as of later today. Ugh. Anyway...

Love ya...

Very nice, Sis. Trina, very nice! I didn't notice the cup, but I guess I didn't visit with you all that much. I felt like once we stopped singing, I just flitted around visiting a little here and a tad bit there! But it was so fun.
