Just Doing Our Thing

Let's start with this photo that I took yesterday evening. This is our little Roman looking out his playroom window wailing at the thought of Daddy and I leaving him for a dinner excursion. It is so heartbreaking to see his little face pressed against the glass crying as if he is never going to see us again. Oh my..........the drama!

On a lighter note.....We have really been enjoying this berry season. I have got to pick with the sisters who are dear friends, and I have picked with just my boys too. Here we are picking some blueberries. The blueberry farm is only about a 1/4 of a mile from my house. It could be walked if I weren't too lazy to grunt up the incredibly steep hill to get to it. Getting there wouldn't be half bad, but carrying those containers of heavy berries back would make me glisten (glisten...not sweat! hehehe). Levi, Abram, and Roman helped me out on this day. The weather was perfect for picking. It was sunny, but there was a comfortable breeze. Here are our raspberries and blueberries. What a beautiful contrast. There are my shoes as well. The ground was so soft from the watering that I finally decided that I was tired of sinking into the tender soil, and took them off. The warm dirt below felt divine on the soles of my feet.If you look close you will see a snake wrapped around the vine of this raspberry bush. This moment stole the joy of picking for me. It was after my bucket was half full that I extended my hand inside this bush, and upon further investigating spied this ugly little snake. Thankfully, we don't really have dangerous snakes in our part. Hailey and Roman were out in the pig pen with Den and I as we were doing our chores. I have my baby sling on, but Boaz was nabbed by one of the boys and my load had been lifted....lol

Here is a picture of Levi and Den building the fence that we are putting up for our piggys. The area beside our little barn is pretty overgrown and pigs are great for uprooting vegetation. Therefore, we are going to take advantage of that and it will make the pigs quite happy too. However, pigs are quite brilliant and relentless with plans to escape so we will be putting an electric fence around the perimeter.

I love summer! I love being able to spend time outside and enjoying our land that the Lord has blessed us with. I will post more pics of our land and home later.

I enjoyed those pictures a lot! The blueberries and rasberries made my mouth water! They look superb! It's nice that you've been having so much company. Sometimes you get tired, but the brethren are definitely worth it! That's what I say, anyway (as you can tell from my post about Sunday. Who cares if we only get 5-6 hours of sleep and then have to work hard, hard, hard? I'd rather be with my friends and brethren!).

I just love looking at your pictures! They are so beautiful, and it truly seems like a paradise that you live in. It is so different than the surroundings of my house, which are more and more houses and people and cars and blah. How wonderful it must be to look out your window and see trees and to live so close to berry picking! Thanks for sharing!
