His Plate Is Full

Well it's Saturday morning. I am down at Den's job with him while he oversees his project. I was going to stay home and get some stuff done, but he REALLY wanted me to come. That always feels good, so how could I deny him, right?

I was thinking about Teresa's post about her husband. She had said how it is easy for us to forget what our husbands do all day, when we have all these things we want them to participate in at home, with us. Ohhhh True true....

I have no doubt Den works hard. I talk to him daily, sometimes a couple times a day just to see how he is doing, etc. Or he calls me to see how my day is going. I am so thankful for the sweet reminder that he is thinking of me, however I truly don't realize all that is on his plate daily, hourly. He is never one to complain and if the squeaky wheel gets the oil, than his little wheel is pretty dried out....lol.

While he is out walking all over the grounds, I sit here at his desk, all tucked away, and I see blueprints galore. He has memos, shipping lists, sketches, and all matters of important construction paraphernalia all around. Most of it I don't understand, but the one thing I do is how much this company expects him to accomplish. He is running a multi-million dollar job, and balancing family and church each and everyday. In my world of family and home I can become consumed with what we will do when he walks in the door. The thing is, I do enjoy him! When he walks over the threshold at the end of his busy day my eyes light up, and somehow it feels like my world is complete. We may not do anything at all. He may just sit down to finish watching the news or something else he has tivoed, but it feels wonderful just to have him home.

So I sit here at his desk, typing away on his laptop, and I am reminded of just how blessed I am to have a man so devoted to his work so that he is able to provide for us, but, also, that he comes home and enjoys me and his sons. Coming here today is such a good reminder of Den's other world that he balances so well for us. It's so easy to take him, and all that he does, for granted.

I so love to talk to Lee through out the days to see how things are going. You are right they work so hard so we have some nice things in life. Glad you are getting to spend some time together.

It is easy to kind of forget what husbnds do for us. I think they really like it when we take an interest of what they actually do at work. That is sweet that you went with him to his job site.

It's wonderful that you realize all the blessings you have in being married to a man of God. I'm sure he appreciates your support and love more than you'll ever know this side of Heaven!

I want to marry a man who is dedicated to God, loves me beyond measure, and works hard to support his family. Den is a great example of a man of God! You're so lucky! :)

Doesn't sound to me like you take him for granted at all ~ quite the opposite!! I have read many posts where the love and appreciation you have for him after all these years is still very apparent. I only hope and pray to be as lucky!

By the way, are you supposed to be blogging or helping him with something? hee-hee! Had to ask!

Love this post Trina. What a tribute to Den.

I like it when GAP travels (for short periods of time though) for business from time to time as we take this time apart to miss each other and appreciate each other more when we're together. But I like it even more when he's at home, even just doing his own stuff. So thank you again for this post (GAP's away for a month and this post makes me miss him more!)

Love your post about my brother-in law. He is a hard worker and he does balance his life so well, with all those boys. I miss you both so much. I hope to see you in December. We are making more concrete plans to come. Can't wait.

The men really are sacrificing a lot in their lives. I sure want to try my best to make it a worthy sacrifice. You make your appreciation known all of the time throughout your writing, a great example in that.

Ahhhh, conviction comes thrashing across my heart. My husband has just recently jumped back in the construction trade...bad back and all. He comes home feeling like he has been beaten or flogged. I wish things were different for our men...but we must thank Eve for this. Oh, by the way, Did you loose your camera AGAIN?@%$#@&*(@?!
Thanks for sharing from your lovely heart.
