Coloring Spree

Our white wood tv stand in our family room. Ohhhh the masterpiece!
The stairway wall has a fresh mural now.

My computer desk has been signed by our 19 month old artist, too.

What does a 19 month old do when no one is looking and he has a pen in his hand? He colors! On everything! My mother would faint at the coloring spree her sainted grandson has went on.

What did I do when I, finally, found the culprit who was also covered in blue ink? I swiped the pen (much to the wailing of the toddler), and swatted his chubby, impish hand.

Now this Mama is going on an Ajax/Comet scrubbing spree.

This work of art was here when Sis. Collette was spending the week, and she asked me who did it? I paused and straight faced said, "Me." LOL

Fun, fun! I don't envy you at all! My Mom just makes her children do it! If we weren't the one doing the coloring, too bad for us, we once did! I specifically remember one time when we lived in Chelan Falls, and when Kali and I drew on the outside of the house, Mom got us rags and soapy water, and set us to work. Amidst our tears and howls, I fear that we didn't get much done in the way of washing off the pencil, but boy, we've never done something like drawing on non paper articles again! Except Kali, who likes to draw on the palm of her hand. I never did understand why Mom made us use hot water and soap instead of a simple pencil eraser, but the lesson was learned, and now I understand her reasoning.

You told me to be sure and let you know how I did finishing drivers ed. I got 48 out of 50 questions on the written test, and I got 93% on the final drive. Now I'm done with drivers ed, which feels very strange indeed! Enjoy your cleaning!

Neena: Congratulations!!! Those are awesome scores!! Now on to the drivers license...let the countdown begin!

Okay I like your mom more and more. She is a woman after mine own heart...hahaha

All my kids have done art on my things, and the stage lasted about 6 months each. And that was 4 kids under age 8 back then. We got easy going about it. Now I have cringed when I have seen wyatt walk around with a crayon, we dont dare show him it works. LOL

I think Roman has shown true talent.

Oops! At least it wasn't permanent marker.

Our walls are marked likewise. I am afraid that we couldn't get the last batch off and haven't been able to repaint yet. I am repeatedly embarrassed by it! I guess that I should get the soap and water and Sabriena eh?

I also think that he shows promise on the artistic side!

Don't you love that stage? My older girls hardly ever drew on the walls. Corbin, on the other hand... All of a sudden he woke up one morning and started drawing on everything . Magic eraser works wonders.Have fun.

anonymous: I will go buy one!

Mary: So should I give him a Sharpie? I dont want to stifle his artsy side...rofl

Sis: Yeah he figured out the magic of the pen all on his own. He's gifted that way! hehehe

Karen: Yeah...im trying to count my blessings...lol

Gale: Well he gets the artsy thing from me...*giggling* The other boys did this too. One time the art was in the form of poop rather than pen, so Im trying to decide which is better.....

Sylvia: Some of my kids were more creatively expressive than others...hehehe Okay, Im getting a magic eraser!!

I was going to tell you about the magic eraser but as I read everyone else beat me to it. It does work good. If you don't get one I will bring you one. Bought a box at sams and I still have plenty. I always find Samuel with pens but I haven't seen any art work yet. Just waiting to find it.

I had to ue the magic eraser on my 2 yr. old son's art on the toys last year. I've been a customer ever since. :) I would choose the ink art over poop art if I were you :) You are too funny and Roman is an awful cute Picasso.

Trina said...

Cherrie: You are so sweet to offer to bring me magic erasers all the way from Oklahoma...hahaha I will buy one, hopefully before you get here. Otherwise I will try to have it framed.

Rosann:Yeah...as long as the magic eraser is MAGIC I will take pen over poop too...LOL!

Funny I was going to suggest Magic Eraser also. It's pretty amazing stuff. Kids are funny and I just love how you are able to laugh at the artwork, take a picture of it and move on. You are a good mommy.

My 19mo has just started discovered pens and colored pencils, and so far he's 'only' been scribbling on papers, any kinds - newspapers, fax papers, the boys' homework..

Nadine: Im mellowing with age...hehehe And being a mother of five boys has changed my perspective on things. lol

Labellina: Well Roman was doing the same thing...until...one fine day....hehehe

Leah: Thank you very much! Im sure you can relate to me, although you are probably very on top of Titus...hehehe

Oh MY. When I was three I added a "border" to the entire third floor, which happened to be an open air great room.

Yes, magic erasers are definitely the way to go! Happy scrubbing :)

I had company once who had a couple of boys. I needed to run to town for food, and she had a few things she needed to get done at home, so I left her there to get them done. She called me up frantic and was very sorry, but her son had found a permanent marker and had a ball! Carpet, tile, couch cushions & pillows, kitchen cabinets, wall in living & dining rooms, stairs rail, front door. You get the idea, it was everywhere! The house had that disgusting marker smell big time! Hair spray and magic erasers were my friends for a few days! I was constantly finding more places he traveled on his little adventure! On permenant marker & cloth, the hair spray definately was best!

I've SO been there.... with permanant black ink... all over my front door. It was kind of like an announcement to the neighborhood "toddler has taken over house!" Our pretty wood door quickly got a fresh coat of white paint. Ah, the good ol' days. ~Karlie

Jackonthelake: Oh my...I bet your mom passed out! hahaha

Marisela: Well it seems that everyone knew it before me though. I had forgotten all about the magic eraser...LOL

Angel: My comet/ajax sounds so 1970's now...hehehe

Connie: Ohhhhh Myyyyyy Gooooodness!! I truly can't imagine! I had to read through that a couple of times. I bet that mom wanted to DIE!! I would have felt like I had to give up next born child to you....rofl!

Conservachick: Okay that door did scream Toddler House! hahaha I would have felt right at home...hehehe

Cheryl: I remembering you telling me that! It was brand new right? That is what sold me on microfiber too. AMAZING material!

Hi Trina,

I got your link off Nan's blog, I liked your title! We are still in the "paper is too small for my artistic side" phase. Another thing that will work is Melaleuca's Sol-U-Mel, it is all natural and safe around children and people who are sensitive to some cleaners, and will totally take anything off anything. Permanant marker, beware!!
