6:35am? Are You Kidding?

The bedroom window was open and I could feel the cool breeze of the morning gently pushing its way through the screen. I was loving it, as I pulled the comforter a little closer over my shoulders. The cold made my eyes even heavier, and I'm sure puffier, as I was ready to stay in bed next to Roman for quite a while this morning. This is when the wave of nausea hit me! It swelled up from my empty stomach up to my throat and I thought "oh no."

I wrestled around a bit. Tossed and turned as I battled the carsick feeling. I buried my face in my pillow and asked the Lord to have mercy. It brought back memories of waking up to the strong need to bow before a toilet in my previous pregnancies. This is when I remembered I had left a box of cheerios at the foot of the bed, next to the computer, last night. I groggily, threw my covers back, knowing I was on borrowed time and leaned my body across the wood foot board. As my body was atop the wood beam I streeeeeeeetched my arm, with my fingers wiggling, to grab that opened box of cheerios. Finally, I got a grasp and hugged the box next to me like it was my long lost friend. Still too tired to open my eyes properly. I began to grab a handful and place the tiny circles in my mouth. The smell of the slightly sweetened cheerios made me sick so I had to breathe out of my mouth rather than my nose. Hoping that the cheerios would glide down and settle my tumultuous stomach that was still profusely complaining.

I pried my eyes open to find that it was 6:35am. Irritated that this morning sickness was already ruling my roost, I slipped out of bed and headed downstairs, carrying my precious box of cheerios.

River was up, getting ready for work, when he asked me if I was okay. I sleepily said, "Sick". He sympathetically smiled and said, "Oh....sorry."

I went to the fridge and quickly grabbed the container of freshly sliced kiwi and strawberries, and sat on the red sectional. Every bite I took I told myself not to think about the flavors, but to remind myself how it might settle my stomach instead. Nothing was working, until River offered me a cup of coffee. I figured I had nothing to lose and I accepted. As I sipped my first sip of non sweet warm coffee I felt hope. Maybe I would make it through this morning without saluting the porcelain throne.

I did it. I managed to eat half of a banana, 4 strawberries, 2 slices of kiwi (that I never care to eat again), a few handfuls of cheerios, and a few sips of coffee. Now here I sit at my computer feeling another wave of it coming on. Wondering how many calories I will have to take in on a daily basis has me a wee bit concerned, but at this point, I don't care as long as I keep it down.

One meal down......twenty to go! hehehe

I am so sorry the sickness hit so early this morning. I hope you get relief throughout today. I will be sending up some prayers for you.

Oooooh I'm so sorry! Coffee? When your sick? Weird. It helped me to not use the toilet to throw up. I pass out too easily, so if I use a trash can beside the bed I never let the blood rush out of my head. I learned that if I lean over the side of the bed it eases faster, especially if I can have a warm cup of tea and a piece of toast while still hanging over the side of the bed. (thank you, Sabriena) Everyone is different, and every pregnancy different, I'm sure you have found your own ways to ease it, just thought I'd mention mine. Good luck with the next 20 meals! Bring on the weight so long as you feel better!

Cheryl: I am doing okay right now, so I am thankful. Im sure those prayers are helping!

Gale: I remember you passing out. Poor woman! That is something that I have never been plagued with. I know Connie had some extreme stuff too...Yikes! I know I don't know why sipping on coffee helped this morning, but right now it sounds hideous!! hahaha

Oh dear dear sister of mine, we have endured so many things the same and morning sickness seems to be one of them.

I ate many meals a day, to only throw them all up, to find myself nibblng again. And that is all you are doing too. Citrus fruits and lemon water helped, didn't take it away, only helped. I hardly left the house, but when I did, I took chilled oranges with me in tupperware and laid it in ice and would suck on them. Don't know why it helped so much, but it did with this one.

And know one could use my toilet, except Mr.Martin of course. LOL It was my personal throw throne! You have to some perks pregnant.

I somehow had missed several of your previous posts. I wanted to comment on each of them when I just read them, though! Sorry you have morning sickness. I hope that when I have children, I'm one of those rare women who go through the whole pregnancy with no morning sickness!

I haven't been here reading for a bit and am excited to hear your family's news :-)

A friend of mine with five boys is due with baby number six in about a month and we're all anxiously awaiting the, "will it be another boy or a girl?!" news :-) I'm just delighted to be her birth doula again and will get a firsthand look! LOL!

I just stopped by to see how you were doing and see you are having another baby! How exciting. Congratulations. I will surely have to stop by more often.
I had morning sickness SOOOO bad with my daughter I could barely function. I was finally put on Zofran which I was afraid to take, but once I did, I no longer lived over the toilet.

Praying you have a very healthy and happy pregnancy.

How long does the morning sickness usually last with you? I hope it is only the first few months. Who cares about the calories if it makes you feel like a semi functioning person again. I'll be remembering you.

Oh boy, I'm sorry that is how you had to wake up this morning! At least you were able to settle your stomach. Hoping that the morning sickness doesn't last long for you!

I thought of you last night; when I got off the merry-go-round at the playground and thought I was going to be sick. :( I had flashbacks of pregnancy queasiness, magnified 1000x. :O
