Our Unleavened Bread

Unleavened bread is what we make for ordinance suppers. When someone gets baptised we have a very traditional and biblically based washing of the saints feet, partaking of the blood, and His body. So, since Den was the one to baptise, it was my job to make the unleavened bread that represented the body. It's a tradition that has been handed down for many many generations. It is always neat to be a part of anything that old and traditional.
The first time I made it for the church it was a huge crowd, at a camp out meeting. I thought to myself I have NEVER made it before. I had only watched my mother make it when I was young, but Sis. Kim walked me through it. This bread is made with only flour and water. I mean how much more simple can it get? The point is to not allow anything in it to cause it to rise. Plus, its not really supposed to be tasty, since we are not eating it to fill our bellies, but to remember what Jesus did for us.
So Cheryl came over yesterday to watch me make this ancient bread, and she thought it may be neat to take some pictures. While in the process of making this bread, each boy asked me what I was making, and when I would say, "Unleavened bread" they would say, "Lemon bread?" After the third or fourth time it made me giggle. I think they were hoping for something a little more tasty! lol
The ordinance supper was obviously small, but very touching.

That's really cool. And how neat that your boys got to watch you make it.

And on a completely non-spiritual note. I love your shirt. Want to go shopping sometime? You have the greatest taste!

Randi: Well my ridiculous old pajama pants would have to be part of the runway show! They are pretty crazy, but those are what I truly love to wear! Maybe we should have a post day of showing everyone our pj bottoms...

I was so nervous the first time I made unleavened bread. So kudos to you, lol

Cherrie: Me too! Even though it is seriously the most basic bread to make, it represents the Lord's body...no pressure there!

It truly is a wonderful thing that we are able to partake in. Whenever I have been able to participate it makes me think about when Christ washed the feet and gave the instruction. It is always very sweet and touching. Glad you were able to do it with your new assembly.

How neat... and look at you! You are gorgeous in your dress with your hair all done, making your unleavened bread! You look so... so... classy. So vintage! (in short: You're gorgeous!)

May I ask what denomination (or non-denomination) you are with? Just out of curiosity. :^D

I think that I'm moving my blog. You are not the only one having troubles signing in, me too. I am so glad that Dennis was able to baptize, I've never made the bread, but if I did I'm sure I would feel a lot of pressure. Wow, we must be grown up now?
