He's Joining The Big Leagues Now!

The temper tantrum at the park, was so dramatic, his britches almost came clean off....OH MY! Notice Abram's calm demeanor....lol.

Roman is starting to learn the age old trick of throwing himself on the floor, when he is frustrated with one of us. He doesn't have a very loud cry, so he is quite easy to dismiss when he is upset. However, we try to stay in tune to what it is he is in WANT of, and if it's doable, we will oblige him. Nevertheless, many times a "NO" is a "NO".

Much to our surprise, (ha), he doesn't care for the word "No". Its one of those words that he makes sure he lets us know he disapproves of. How do you ask? By throwing himself to the floor. I have learned after raising 4 boys, before him, that unless it lasts ridiculously long, to just ignore it. Normally, after a few seconds of no response from all said family members, he tires and begins busying himself with something else.

Today, he was in the kitchen with us while we were fixing some homemade mac and cheese, and he wanted something. What that something was, evades me at this time of the day, but it must have been followed by the "NO" word. He immediately cried out with disapproval, and began to look around at his surroundings before he played the dramatic role. The funny thing was that he had thrown himself on the wood floor before, and must have came to the conclusion that it wasn't the softest blow to his body. So he, most decidely, began to make a beeline for the cushy carpet, that lay ahead of him.

By this time, he has all of our attention, and we begin to chuckle a little. You could see that he was about to make his move, by collapsing on the softer carpet, but out of the corner of his eye, he must have spotted an even softer couch pillow. Obviously, the intelligent one year old, knew that throwing his body on to a pillow would be the most ideal situation, and quickly detoured for it. Shocked, we watched to see if he had that much foresight. Sure enough, he did it! He fell on top of the pillow, and whaled with all his heart. By this time, the four of us were all discussing how strategically he had planned that tantrum out. I think he has just switched to the big leagues on temper tantrum planning.

Oh my. I don't think I ever heard of a one year old plan that far in advance. That's amazing and a bit funny. You have to give the boy his props.

That little Roman!!!! He seriously makes me smile. I can so see his little eyebrows in a distressed position while he was trying to plan his next move!! But I agree how smart is he to be aware of his surroundings...no need to get a lump on the ol'noggin just to prove a point!! LOL

BTW.. Rusty read this post and wanted me to relay the message that he MUST get that from his momma..not sure if he is meaning the fits or the intelligence.
But I say the second.:-)

Oh Trina! This story just touches me and tickles me. Roman is sooo cute and intelligent. I love it when children act up and we can have the distance from it to enjoy their persistence and ingenuity. Even a laugh when they're not looking. How is the house straightening going??? So much work, every single time :) Love, Elise

Wow, Trina, lots going on in your world! Maybe God is leading you to move in order to introduce your family to some lovely, eligible young ladies.
Our third daughter used to throw the most adorable tantrums--very quietly landing on the floor (or ground) and just laying there, not moving or sobbing, with her big, sad eyes pleading upward. We never gave in to her, just on principle, but we did video it once. I don't recall her ever thinking about a cushy landing spot, though.

Wow, what an adorable child! I love the enthusiasm for life. Carpe Diem!

Abram is so good looking, patient, cool as a cucumber, just like his uncle.

Love you all. Uncle C.
