If It's Not One Thing, It's Another!

On Monday morning, as our house was full of company, I heard a loud thud. Then our water heater moaned and groaned, and sounded like water was either filling up the tank or maybe draining out. Not sure what it was, for the sound was unfamiliar. I called Den in to explain the noise, and he examined the water heater. He reassured me that it was fine, and we concluded that it was all the showers and activity from having a house full.

In the next few minutes we found River in our bedroom acting pretty shook up. He began to confess that he had ran Den's truck into the well house, and he was just sick about it. Earlier, Den had asked him to back his worktruck up to the shop to retrieve his tires so we could exchange our studded snow tires back to our all-weather ones. As he was backing up, he popped the clutch, and reversed straight into our well house. The damage was bad enough that it broke all the water pipes and the electricity to the pump. So we ran outside to find that gallons and gallons of water were pouring out all over the ground. We ran to shut the water valve off and to turn the power off to the well too.

River was in tears and was apologizing profusely, and by this time our guests had came outside to investigate as well. River sucked up his tears and we all stood around to plot how to fix the problem. All the pipes needed to be replaced and there would be much needed digging. At this point we had no phone, no water, and a house full of 13 people.

Den and I stayed calm, knowing it was an accident. Keeping in mind that having a new driver in our home would be bringing on a new onslot of problems, but once a child is repentful then what else is there to do, but to forgive and move on.

The day was stressful, as we had just finished off a large homemade breakfast, and dishes were overflowing the sink and countertop. We still needed showers, and everything that you become accustom to water bringing. It's just amazing how much you need water.

After many hours, going to the hardware store, and fiddling with all the pipes it was time for lunch. What I had planned for lunch was now out of the question, with no water in sight. So I made sandwiches with some pop, and we ate on paper plates. The stress was beginning to wear on Den and myself by this time, however. We even had words, nothing serious, but we did during lunch as we both were feeling an increasing pressure to have this repaired.

Finally, after a couple more hours of repairing, and all day with no flushing of toilets or any other natural convenience that water affords, they fixed it. What a relief, and I have to confess that I was happy to crawl into bed and put that day behind me.

Stephanie: You are so beautiful. For some reason I thought you were a blonde. Thanks for the compliment on my family. I sure love them, but boy that was a CRAZY day!! Ugghh

NeuroticMom: Thanks for the tag..hehehe Yeah it was a bit of a nightmare, but what do you do right? Glad that moment passed!

Nicki: Honestly it was easier to handle in the beginning and became increasing more difficult as the day went on, but we all survived it. I dont think it would have been near the big deal if we hadn't had company. Although Mike our guest was a HUGE help!

Cheryl: Thanks, I didnt think chasing River around the yard with a stick would have helped. Although the thought makes me laugh.
