I'm Just Sitting Here....In The Dark....Again

How many hours have I spent hiding in the dark abyss of my bedroom waiting for a baby or toddler to fall asleep? Honestly, the number would probably astound you and even me. After six boys, and all of them going through difficult nap times, I have found myself hiding in my closet, sitting on the floor or even slithering out on my belly to try to squeeze out the squeaky bedroom door that leaves me grimacing and praying that the sound doesn't wake up the prince of crankiness., and 2009 has me filling out the same time cards. What will my life be like, eventually, when I can step in and out of my bedroom ,where a crib is still assembled, of my own free will and with all the sound of an elephant in the jungle? I, honestly, can't imagine that day.....and maybe that will be good because the likelihood of me watching my grandbabies and doing the same routine for them on any given weekend surely awaits me. Maybe I should give classes on how to escape baby rooms at naptime like a Navy Seal....quiet and stealth so you can enjoy the quiet hour of bliss that you spend in ridiculous giddy laughter that comes from a crazy mom that doesn't know what to do with her time, alone. Alone.....what a funny unfamiliar word.....

Oh, you brought some good memories. We have an old house with the most creaky wood floors you can imagine, not that I mind them the first two years we lived in this house. No, not until my dear baby made me realized how creaky they were. I would gladly had taken your class in how to escape for sure :)

Ah!

I only didn't have a child who was a light sleeper. I had a non sleeper, but once he was asleep you could flip him.

But we had other issues. :) And it's so true, once you are out of that stage, (and that happens ever so quickly) it begins with them grandbabies. Oh I can't wait!!!!

I thought those were the best memories, sneaking out of the kids rooms, rocking a baby until my brain is scrambled, etc. Then I found out I am expecting again, I sure wish they were just found memories and not the dreaded future ha ha. Just kidding, I am about to be a grandma and I would way rather have babies under my feet hanging on my every word than being married thinking they are surely smarter than mom ha ha. They always think they can do it the easy way but mom assures me they;ll come around soon ha ha.

Ah those were the days!
I saw an ad on Craigslist the other day for a mom who would give classes on how to get your baby to sleep...and I thought I should open shop and give her a run for her money. LOL.We could go in together and I could do the sleeping and you could do the sneeking out class.

BTDT and you're right! You will be doing with your grandchildren, too, so patent your navy seal routine as soon as you can get it to work!

Blessings,

Teeheehee! Laughing! I do the same thing with Damon, the sitting on the floor beside his crib thing! Because then I'll still be there, but maybe he'll think I'm gone and fall asleep! Sometimes it even works... the cell phone alarm comes in handy, though. I use something that will lull him to sleep!
