The BEST Girls

As my boys begin to explore the idea of finding a girl for marriage I find myself giving them more and more tidbits of advice as to what to look for. I find myself telling them to wait for the BEST. They deserve the BEST, in fact, everyone does, but what does the BEST look like? Well the best isn't the girl who wins the BEST in a beauty contest (beauty fades I remind them), nor is it one that wears the BEST clothes (fashions come and go), and it sure isn't the one who wins the BEST in a popularity contest (those are only numbers).

No....the BEST is far different and far above rubies.

My advice to my boys is to find the girl who has the BEST heart towards the Lord. The girl who loves to cook/bake for those she loves, and can make the BEST cherry cobbler in her man's eyes. How about the girl that will give you the BEST smile at the end of a long hard day and knows the BEST thing to say to comfort you. Ohhhh and don't forget the girl who will give your children the very BEST of herself in the wee hours of the morning, when the babies are crying out. Maybe she will know the BEST lullabye to lull them back to sleep. Look for the kind of girl that will know what to say to your child when their head hangs low, like, "You're the very BEST to me, honey."

Just remember that you want to give her the BEST too. You will need to remember to save your BEST hug for her in the evening, and tell her that she was the BEST thought you had all day. You will want to lead her the BEST you know how; to help her feel safe and secure, and you can do this by giving your very first and BEST to God each and every day. If you do these things you will find the very BEST friend you have ever had. You will have the BEST life that you ever dreamed of.

Yep, I want my boys to have the very BEST, don't you?

As my children have grown up I have always begged God He would bring them the perfect companion in life. Ones who would love the Lord with all their heart because then I knew that they would both be the richest men and women on earth! So far, I have the BEST daughter in laws around and I'm so blessed to see my sons happy men. Three down, four to go! Sweet posting!

This post actually had me in tears.. because these are some of the things I've been seeking God about...how to be the best girl I can for the man that one day comes along. I want to strive to be the best at everything that you posted about for my future man AND for God. Sweet post. :)

I am living proof that even an blind squirrel finds a nut sooner or later. Seriously though, I had little idea what I was looking for until I found you Bab. You are the best.

I agree, we all want the best for ourselves and for our family. I try to prioritize the BEST things you described, too, rather than beauty, fashion, or popularity. I don't know how well I do on the true BESTS but I know I will never be selected for most beautiful, most fashionable, or most popular! LOL. Maybe my husband will think me such a BEST that he will even think I am most beautiful, have the best taste in fashion, and ought to be the most popular...? LOL. You have wonderful boys, and I also hope they get good companions. It's always hard when a bad match is made for someone you know and care about!

What an amazing post. Kevin and I read this together, and we both thought... yes. We have talked about this post several times over the past several days. That's exactly what we should all want for our children. The best... just as your description goes.
