Just A Little More Sleep

The room was dark. It was too early. Den was gone and so that left me to take care of Boaz, solitary, before the dawn. Den had put the tubby baby in bed with me after he left. I think Den was under the DISillusion that he would go back to sleep in my arms. He was right about one thing....Boaz was thrilled and did snuggle in to me, or should I say ON me. He wrestled with me by nudging his head against my head, in a not so gentle intensity. He then grabbed my hair with his sweaty, clammy little palms, and pulled and pulled. Hair is his favorite toy, and mercy to anyone that he gets a good grasp on.

So I dodged baby head butting, and hair pulling from the happy squeaky baby that was only a dark shadow image to me in the dark room. Just when it looked like he might leave me alone he would venture too close to the edge of the bed; blind to the invisible boundary that would lead to the hard wood floor below. It's not that he hasn't fell off the bed a couple of times in the recent past, but in the dark room the bed probably seems like it goes on forever. So this exhausted mama kept grabbing a chubby, ill placed leg, and dragging him back to the center of the bed. After awhile, I was weary with the game. Therefore, I placed Sir George back in his play-n-pack that he and Roman called their crib. He was devastated.....heartbroken.....and
wailed with the best of them that had endured the same tortures. I tried to console myself that he would wear himself out and drift back off to utter exhaustion (I know I was well on my way). However, I could only endure the sorrowful cries for so long. So I did it. I bounded out of bed and dragged his play-n-pack towards the dark tv. The look on Boaz's face as his bed trembled and moaned across the room made me giggle. He was unsure and a little bit terrified, but then the bed stopped and I turned on Noggin (an EDUCATIONAL cartoon program). Notice I highlighted educational for all you judgie types....lol. Yep, it was a colorful display that spilled out before him. He wasn't too pleased with the sudden distraction at first and continued to cry.........but soon the familiar songs and voices that danced in front of him lulled him back to happiness and eventually sleep.

And I.....was fortunate enough to dream of sharing and taking turns....and every other "Noggin" life lesson that made it's way to my drowsy ears.

When Dale had his rash and stayed home from school ,he woke up when the other kids got up 5:45 am .Did not want to go back to sleep like mom loves to do everyday. So i get him cereal .I climb back in bed Next e want a bath so I get out of bed .then he wants a movie put in the computer in the family room so i get out of bed . he is not much of a movie watcher so in about 30 minutes he is wanting to know when i am going to get up.So much for sleeping in at all .And that is how it as everyday he stayed home those 3 days.On the 3rd day I just didn't even try going back to bed.LOL

They sure can wiggle you to death can't they. I am glad you turned on an educational show. He will probably be so advanced for his age lol. I completely understand the need for more sleep. I am trying to break my newly formed habit of sleeping in.

Wow, what an... interesting narrative! LOL. So I guess that little Boaz wasn't the only one benefiting from the education Noggin cartoon, eh? LOL. I hope it didn't leave you unenergized to have your routine disturbed!

This is the reason that Lion King is one of my Favorite movies. Andy would watch it every morning while I went back to sleep in tune to "the circle of life" and "I just can't wait to be king!"

I remember doing the same self thing when my oldest did the self same thing.

I used to feel guilty about it, until I got over it. lol.

Considering no on really watches tv in this house, ( except football games) I believe it didn't hurt him none, but it sure helped his momma survive!!

Your stories crack me up! I love the opening and "tubby baby"...I had to laugh and could just see the tubby fat rolls of baby legs.

Just bring a baby into bed to ruin your sleep. Works every time. I'm glad he's going to be so advanced for his age with all the education! Love the description of his eyes as you drug his bed across the floor.
