Stubborn Teeth

Nothing that special about this photo right? I mean he is six (almost 7) and he has lost his front tooth. Seems like a very normal and humdrum experience, and it is.....sort of.....but a little background must be in order for you to fully appreciate the glory of this missing tooth.

You see for months....and I mean months Abram's two top teeth have been loose. In fact, they began to discolor and buck out a little. I warned him to continue to loosen them so that they would come out, after all I could see a permanent tooth trying to poke through the gums up above, looking for an exit if that tooth didn't clear the way for it.

Therefore, I bribed him with a little more money and a jaunt to the dollar store if he got on the stick with it. However, those boogers wouldn't loosen up enough to where even I could feel good about giving them that final destructive tug.

So Saturday morning he came in to give his habitual happy hello, when I saw the dratted, discolored, bugs bunny teeth taunting me AGAIN. I gave them another wiggle and was disappointed at how little progress he had made with them. So I sent Abram downstairs to let Dad have a little look-see. Once he bounced downstairs I continued on with my conversation with Teresa, and forgot all about it.

A few minutes later Abram was back upstairs, but this time his demeanor was quite deflated. He opened up his tiny mouth and their was blood all over the place. With tears in his eyes he whimpered while holding out the tiny tooth in his hand. He said that Daddy had pulled it out and he didn't think it was as ready as Daddy did. I was extremely pleased, very relieved, a wee bit shocked, and saddened all rolled into one emotion. Abram said that Daddy wanted to get them both out at the same time, but he declared with as much desperation as a six year old could muster that he could NOT endure that! lol I didn't blame him!

So now we have one stubborn tooth out and hopefully the second discolored, protruding tooth to follow soon. After all, the permanent tooth from the first hole is already filling in and coming down remarkably fast. They are ready to come out, whether they want to come out or not!

Well, I'm sure it won't be too long until the next one gets pulled, too. I remember always being scared of getting my teeth pulled - even though it didn't hurt! One tooth I had that was very loose, I was letting Dad feel, and he takes his fingers away from my mouth and holds up this tooth. I don't think I would have immediately noticed if he hadn't shown me!

Owww, poor guy. That could be traumatic and he might not let daddy near his mouth ever again. I hope the other one comes out a little easier. How are you feeling?

Well as you know I only have 1 child in this house so far that has lost any teeth and no matter how loose those babies are it is still a fight to get them out...LOL
I'm sure the next one will soon follow, maybe sooner than you think if Daddy has his say, eh?..hehe

A little Daddy love was all it needed! ha! I bet you have a hard time sending him to Dad again to look at a tooth!

Neena: We have had some really good tooth pulling experiences, but this wasn't one of them! lol

Cherrie: Yeah, he's not looking forward to the next one. I am feeling really good, no sign of baby yet.

Mary: Yeah Daddy is ready whenever Mama gives the go ahead. Im squeamish about such things, but not good ole daddy!

Steph: Congratulations on your latest baby news!! There is nothing like the blessing of a baby in this world!

Lori: I am dreading it, but the next one will have to come out SOON!!!

I don't know how you get Trina, but when one of my children gets to the point of loosing a tooth, I revisit childhood all over again. Do you remember wiggling your teeth? It is funny how a solitary life event can bring back memories.

Awww, pulling teeth can be so dramatic. Taylor absolutely hates her teeth being pulled. She has had some stubborn teeth. But most of the stubbornness is HER! ;) She actually HAD an adult tooth behind one of her baby teeth and still didn't want us to try to pull it, but we did. I hope it doesn't take as long for his teeth to grow in as Taylor's. We pulled her top 2 teeth in AUGUST, and one has grown in, but the other one still hasn't. Hopefully you won't have many more "stubborn teeth" to deal with though :)

Oh my I seriouly dread the tooth pulling thing. Emily's top two are finally growing in and trying to straighten themselves. My two oldest boys have very crooked teeth. Their mouths are just too small for those big adult teeth to come in right. Poor boys. They get that from me. Alans teeth are perfect

Oh, poor baby. He just needs more sympathy and according to my eight year old a string and a door knob. Daniel has never tried this himself (he's to squeemish, for some reason he thinks it might hurt) however he really wants someone else to so he knows it's okay. I really don't reccomend it. Ha ha

He has all my sympathy I remember having stubborn baby teeth that did not want to loosen up. Mom was always after me to work on them. Now I am glad because I don't have double teeth but at the time I didn't like it!
