Memorial Weekend Lowdown

What a long, wonderful, busy, yet relaxing weekend we just had. I have to say it was well appreciated and warranted. I wish we could have gone up to the Brewster Campout, but with a move in our not so distant past we really couldn't afford it. However, we made sure our two teenagers got to go so that they could enjoy all the festivities that will go down as warm memories for their futures, just like Den and I have.

Bro. Doyle and Bro. Elvin were kind enough to invite them to tag along for the trip. Then they spent the night in an assembly on the way up there, and some friends of ours asked them to spend another night. The boys were very easily persuaded, and the rest is the beginning of an adventurous time.

Den and I, on the other hand, stayed home with the three youngest boys. Two, of which, were severely disappointed with the idea that there was no camping involved on a Memorial weekend. This has been a long standing tradition for our family for many many years, but sometimes you just have to change things up. Although this certainly will not be a new found tradition for us.

We went swimming, worked out, found a great farmers market, went book shopping, ate out, and even barbecued in our backyard. And oh yeah, taught Abram to ride a bike. I guess he was ready, because the first time he hit the pavement he was sailing down the cul-de-sac on his own. What had I been waiting for? Those tires should have been repaired weeks ago, but luckily he didn't feel as bad at me as I felt towards myself.

All in all, it was so great to spend days and nights snuggled up to Den, and just enjoying some down time as a little family.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! And you managed to squeeze in a lot for just a few days! Isn't it fun watching the teens build those great memories? We did some of that this weekend too. :-)

Sorry you missed Brewster. We went to see the Brethren in Harrisburg and so enjoyed our time. Wish you could have been there! We had great visits and laughed and laughed! It was a blessing that we were able to go. Maybe next time we come that direction we can meet up!

Sounds like a wonderful time. We stayed home and caught up on part of our load of work. Half done, half to go. It was great to see all of our accomplishments though. Glad Abram got to learn to ride. By the way, we have a great group of teenagers here too. We aren't too far away and it would be so neat for our kids to share memories with each other the way we do. Hint, hint.

Trina what a wonderful weekend. I love the farmer's market and the book store.

I hope the boys had a great time getting to see everyone again. And all those lovely teenage girls got to see them too. lol

Even though there was no camping sounds like a good time was had by all.
