I Draw The Line At Shoes

Yesterday was remarkably harder on me than I first realized it would be. Im thankful to have that day behind me. Not that I didn't end up having a very nice birthday, for Den made sure to take good care of that, as usual. He is such a sweetheart, and Im crazy about him.

So he came home to me still undone. I hadn't done much at all after my water aerobics. I had my zip up hoodie on, and some black workout pants, and that was the end of the effort. I knew he wouldn't be thrilled with that when he got home, but honestly I just wasn't in the mood to feel something that I didn't want to feel....you know like..."Ohhhh it's my birthday!!" lol

However, he begged me to get around, and look nice so he could take me to dinner. After a few minutes I came to my senses and thought, "Yeah...let's get out and celebrate it right!" So I quickly got dressed, did my hair, and was ready to face the world outside the house again.

We went to an amazing restaurant! I have been to fancier ones, but this one had the BEST desserts I have had in QUITE a while! The place is called "Roses". Oh my, did Den take me to the right place on the right night! Thanks Babe! Yum!

Afterwards, we went shopping for some christian cds that I have been wanting, and than we went to Nordstrom Rack. He offered to buy me some shoes, and I quickly found my spot in the correct aisle. I began to show him shoes that I thought were cute. I let him know that pointy toes were in, and that I loved that look with jeans. He looked doubtful, but he is always a doubting Thomas when it comes to style. He is always a bit of a trend lagger, if you know what I mean. By the time I convince him that a certain style is REALLY in, it's faded and a distant memory in societies mind.

I began to slip on some little number, and he proclaimed that I looked like an elf. I laughed, and confidently assured him that I did NOT look like Santa's little helper...hehehe. A few minutes later he disappeared, however I was busy drooling over shoes, so I hadn't worried too much. This is when he came back with a white clunky grandma shoe. He proudly handed it to me like he found the needle in the haystack that will solve all my designer issues. I weakly smiled and said, "Ohhh those are sweet." He said enthusiastically, "Try them on!" I picked them up and said, "Honey, these are ugly." He said, "Nooo, they're not!" I reassured him gently, but firmly that they were....giggling! He begged me to try them on, but with one raised eyebrow I said, "Why?" He said because when you put them on you will see. I gently put the ugly white grandma shoe on the shelf and said, "Honey...I don't want those to be pretty to me!" What would the world be coming to if my husband could persuade me that the UGLIEST shoe in the store was now beautiful.

Now here is the real clencher. You may be saying to yourself, "Why didn't she JUST try them on for him? The poor guy was only trying to help....amuse him!" However if you know my Den at all, you will know that he has some sort of magical power over me, where if he deems I should have it, he will buy it, and I must partake in it. This can be concerning food, music, or what have you. He is right about a lot of things, but this shoe thing......Nooooo.....he wasn't right about this one. Trust me he WASN'T right!!!! rofl
In all fairness this was not EXACTLY the shoe, but you get the idea about how I felt about it! Plus, by putting this picture on, we shall see if I can lure Den to leave a comment.....come on Den ...come out to play!

This is for Mary! Have a little look see at my bday POINTY shoes! lol

Cut from the same cloth our husbands...I got to giggling so hard reading that because you described Tom so perfectly when you were talking about Den. Have you read the fiasco I had while wearing some "witchboots"? (Pointy toed boots with a 3 inch stilleto.) They are currently in the Goodwill pile. As much as I do love the look for pointy toes with jeans, I love my unbroken neck and alive daughter more. ROFL Maybe I should look into those white shoes while still pregnant!
Good blog!

Girlfriend.....He could have placed a pair of diamond earrings inside those ugly comfort hush puppies. Now, not even knowing him, this would not have surprised me in the least. Our guys can be very good at surprises. I am glad you had a great night out.

Ohhh, those shoes look so very very adorable on your feet!

I will never wear shoes like that. Alas, after 11 children my feet resemble dead frog flippers. It's best not to bring them out in public.

Hadn't visited your blog before; here through Heth and loving your style!

Fantastic Shoes! I went shoe shopping yesterday too (to the Payless Bogo sale)...but without dear hubby...although he does have fairly good taste when it comes to fashion.
Fun post!
