Emperor Syndrome

What is the deal with men NOT putting clothes away? I'm starting to think that Den believes our living room is a closet. Well, closet may not be accurate, because at least in a closet you hang things up. No, as soon as he gets home he feels the need to strip. We have no blinds on our windows, which isn't that horrible considering we live up a mountain, surrounded by ice, and only two male neighbors. So I guess the chances of him being caught in his scivvys isn't a real enough fear to motivate him to stay dressed.

Now his world would be vastly different if he had a houseful of daughters , but the only female in a 10 mile radius is me, and he doesn't worry about impressing me any longer.....lol. Which is fine, I don't mind the long johns and other unmentionables, it's the clothes that he takes off that bug me to death!

He just takes them off dead center of the living room, and doesn't bat an eye. If I get on to him, he either gives me a sigh and pushes them into a pile, or beckons one of his children (slaves) to put his dirty apparel away for him somewhere.

Then, the next day, when needing to face the rest of the world with clothes again, he can't find a thing. The barks of, "Where are my boots?" "Where is my belt?""Get me some socks?" begin. Everyone scrambles to find him these necessities. I'm not sure he knows where clothes go, or where they come from on any given day.

Hmmmmmm.....this makes me think! Maybe we should try the "Emperor That Had No Clothes" technique. It would be cleaner, cheaper, and much easier. Just thinking of all the laundry I would save, all the frustration, no more nagging. Wouldn't we ALL be better off? I'm sure it wouldn't be that challenging to convince him that he is already dressed, and admire how handsome he looks and send him out the door. As far as everyone else he comes in contact with......well.....
(It has come to my attention that all may not know of the story "The Emperor's New Clothes", as Levi gently reminded me. So go to the link, scroll down, and you can read the summary of the story. Oh goody, another HOMESCHOOL moment...lol.)

Yea!!! You're back home...lol. I love the new blogger beta! It makes playing with your layout so easy.

You know...I hear what you're saying about hanging stuff up and being neat and clean, but I'm a person who comes in and just tosses stuff on the floor. I know...I'm hanging my head in shame as we speak. LOL.

It's my first time here. You have the most beautiful family. 5 boys. That is a LOT of testosterone huh?? I've got 3 girls and only 1 boy, so we outnumber the men in our family. :)

My husband leaves stuff out all of the time. I think it is a man thing, or maybe I just haven't done my job in training him better, who knows?

My dh is so kind. He throws his clothes right by his side of the bed. Eventually after a few days he picks them up and puts them in the hampers. I think that he intends to wear them again, because he is a pastor and doesn't get things dirty like when he worked in carpentry! :) My bigger pet peeve used to be the fact that he would leave half full cans or coffee cups all over the house. I finally let it go and actually missed it when he was gone to preach a revival for a week! LOL
Blessings, Eva

Sounds like a man. If we all did the emperors' clothes thing we'd probably have a nudist country. Imagine (yeeks). Sorry to see you leave homeschool blogger, but I can sure understand.
