20 Years Together

Oh my I feel so mushy today. I am not a big crier, but today tears streamed down my cheeks when Den called me to wish me a Happy Anniversary. He apologized for not having a special gift bought me for me yet, to which my response was silent. I am sure that the silence encouraged the apology I received at that moment, but the silence was not unhappiness or disapproval, no it was just me choking back tears of gratitude. I quickly summoned up my voice so that I could assure him that I was just grateful and happy to be married to him.

My mind conjured up the sweet memories of dressing for Den in my beautiful wedding gown. Living back here has reminded me of so many precious things in my life, and one of them is my wedding day. There were nay sayers, many insecurities, and yet so much promise. We were so young, and so naive, but we knew then, like we know now, that God was in it. It has had it's moments of challenges and difficulties, however it has been a marriage of deep love and mutual respect.

Sometimes I can't believe that I have been married 20 years. I still feel like the young girl starting out in this life, but the image in the mirror, photographs, and experiences say otherwise. I love that I am a mom to six boys, and I am so incredibly appreciative to have Den in my life. Words just aren't enough........

I think the greatest hope that I have is that when this life is over, that we will see each other in Heaven, and we will know that each of us were the ones that got us through the toughest trials in this life, and the greatest joys. I think what we have in this world is amazing, but I know that what we will feel and share on the otherside can't be put into mortal words.

Happy Anniversary Baby, and I can't put a period on the end of that until I thank the Lord for bringing us together.

That's so neat! When you said that you still felt sometimes like you were just starting (I don't remember how you worded it), it made me think that maybe that is how it is with all marriages that last, right up until the day they are parted by death. I think it could certainly be easy to feel that way, anyway!
