Home Pics

I am posting pictures of the inside of our current home. I am hoping that River and Teresa will be taking a sneak peek. I mean I would much rather that they both could see it personally, but at least we have the internet that allows us to show each other way more than ever.

The house is only a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath and has a somewhat lodgey or cabinish feel. It has a place for a master bath but we need to finish it out, and that will be awhile before we get to it. This is the downstairs, minus the mud room and the bathroom. The mudroom still needs a LOT of help...hehehe Actually, the mud room won't be seeing a paint brush or any renovating for a long time, it's low on the totem pole of importance.

The house is full of doors. Let me pause to count how many doors we have leading to the outside....*pausing* Okay we have 8 when you count the french doors that also lead out to decks. So we have had to make a rule that some doors shouldn't be used unless its a true necessity. Now what makes a true necessity? I have no idea! lol However, with all the wood floors it was becoming a trial trying to keep up with all the sweeping that was being tracked inside. The boys have also agreed to taking off their shoes when coming inside; this cuts down on the dirt and the noise. Roman loves this rule since he loves shoes and they are lined up under the coats waiting to be tried on at his leisure.

This is a picture of the living room, entry and the family room is in the distance. I am taking the picture from the stairs.

Another picture from the stairs that looks into the informal dining nook and kitchen. We painted the kitchen walls a barn red to warm the place up since the ceilings are very high. We have left a vast majority of the walls white, and used the colors as accents instead.

This is the kitchen. Den is getting himself a little something. I love how open the house is, it's great for company!

This is the formal dining room area. It has two french doors leading to the outside. This room is very long, although I couldn't get the full feel of the room in the photo. Another great room for company though.

This is the family room; I say family room since the furnishings are what was in our family room in the last house. It's less formal, but it gets the most use. I painted the walls a buttermilk yellow to accentuate the red couch again.

This is a picture of the family room again. It has a little sitting nook with built in shelves for reading or to hold a baby swing....hehehe When you first walk in you see our woodstove and again I used the barn red to highlight the space. We have been putting the woodstove to good use on the rainy days. It smells so good and I love the warmth, although the upstairs gets rather toasty fast.

Off the family room are a small set of stairs that lead up to a huge room that we have made the little boys room. It has lots of room to actually run around in. It has french doors that lead to a sunroom, but we have taken off the doors and made it a playroom for toys. Again, another great hang out for lots of kids.

The walls have been painted a very pale sky blue to keep the room feeling cool in the summer. After all there are tons of windows in this space and bring in a lot of natural light. You can see the french doors laying on their side if you look closely. We need to take them down to the garage still.

I haven't made as much progress on the upstairs yet, so no photos to show there. As soon as I make a dent I will post more.

It's a splendid home for you guys.

If/When we get to build our next house, we will have an open floor plan for home church and having friends over. That's what I love best about your beautiful new home.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I love how you decorated and your bold use of color.

I pray you are getting SOME rest in the upheaval of a new baby and moving to a new house!

First of all.. I love how blogging helps Colin and I to stay in touch with your family. Just to be able to see where you live and how you have made your house your home, makes the miles apart not seem so distant. Love it.

And.. Well.. you must be Superwoman Trina! You already have painted the rooms buttermilk Yellow? You Rock! I need you to come to my house where I am decision- delayed=-challenged. rofl! Seriously your house looks so warm and cozy. Love and miss you all.

Wow! Looking good! It looks like you have so much room in there! I love bright houses. When they are dark, it's so easy to start feeling depressed. Besides, for some reason, it seems like a dark house shows more clutter. Your house looks nice and bright!
