Twiddle My Thumbs, Or.....

try to do something productive with my time while waiting for baby #6 to arrive. So after looking at this eye sore for awhile I decided it was time to replace my ancient wedding album. First of all, Sis. Angela made everyone these beautiful wedding albums as wedding gifts, years ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed the sentimentality of this handmade album that shows off my color choices for that special day.

I had black velvet with emerald green satin. At that time no one had made those color choices, and I remember when I first told my Dad that I wanted those colors he was NOT pleased. However, I persuaded him, and forevermore that turned in to our family colors. For instance, my Dad used those for his business colors later in life too. It made me quite happy to see him change his heart.....*smiling*

As you can see the album is dated, but still sentimental to me.
The main reason to overhaul it was because the album had been damaged through the years, and it was beginning to yellow my photos too. I knew it needed to be salvaged immediately or the pictures would be forever gone.

Here are a few of the pages that I have finished. I am sort of scrapbooking them, but on a very simple scale. The neat thing about this album is that I will have room to write down the history of that wonderful day. You know, who sang and who did what in all the photographs. It won't be just pictures anymore, but something that, even after I am gone, will tell our story. I love that idea!

This is the simple classic album that I will be using to replace my ornate one. It is a very different look, but the black fits the classic black velvet theme and I am pleased to be rejuvenating my wedding album.

OH Trina,
I remember that day! How beautiful you were in that gown. I think your colors were perfect. It is good to start that while you are waiting on the baby. It will make the time pass faster. I hope you are enjoying your time with Tresa. Love you both.

Well you KNOW how much I love scrapbooking ;) I think you did a GREAT job onyour pages. Not only is scrapbooking fun to do, but it truly protects pitures from yellowing over time. Just make sure you use acid free stuff when scrapbooking and your pictures will be kept nice forever! But I loved the album and the pages :)

You had a very striking wedding, so bold and regal. The colors were amazing. One of my goals for this year is to organize all of our photos and fix my album also. Ours went through the flood and got some moisture, the photos are all fine, but the pristine white cover is definitely showing it's age. I think that I want a simple idea this time too, but our albums have been a treasure for the years that we've had them.

I love your weeding dress. Sabriena says she thinks that dresses that fluff out at all don't really look good, but I like them a lot.

That is so awesome! I need to do something like that with my wedding photos and album. I think mine looks worse than yours. I would love to see it when your done. I have never seen your wedding pictures they would be fun to look at.

What a great idea!! I made a scrapbook for my parents, but haven't taken the time to do ours... One specifically for wedding pictures is such a cool idea.... It's where it all started, after all... :) Good job, Trina!

What a great idea!

My wedding pics are in a regular old binder! yep, a folder type binder with pockets for the pics...not attractive at all, and maybe someday soon I can do the same thing with all of my wedding pictures. Our colors were peach, ivory and emerald green...very vogue for almost 15 years ago!

Great job!

You know how I love to scrapbook!! You are doing a great job so far - I love it! Even if baby comes before you finish, it is better to have those wedding pictures in a shoebox than those magnetic album pages of your old book. That is what is yellowing them. Can't wait for you to show off more of your finished product!

I've seen so many people with an album like yours was originally. Great idea to update it.

I was just browsing through your blinkies and noticed the homebirth one.... Are you planning a homebirth for this one?

I like that scrapbookin' stuff and I think you've done a great job! It is best to move those pictures to an album that won't turn them yellow. So, just how much time is left before the baby comes? Someone will make a post and let all your blogger friends know if we should think pink or blue right?!

Trina said...

Mrs. Guthrie: Yes, I will be having a homebirth again. That has been the case for them all.

Steff: Yes, my sister is still in and will be posting pics and an announcement when this little one arrives, for sure!! I am due on Saturday, but I am normally a late bloomer. However, we are hopeful that it wont be the case this time.

I just love looking at your wedding pictures! Great dress! Thanks for sharing a peek into your album with me. Your new album looks SO nice... Makes me think I'd better get going on my scrapbooking projects too. But then again maybe not... Hehee.

Sis Angela was so sweet to make so many of us wedding albulms. Yet, this had to be done with your photos needing to be protected and it looks so cute too.

Good for you!!! Our original plan was to go that route, but it wasn't a good idea when delivering at 30 weeks... :/ Nicer than getting poked and prodded at hospitals. :) Hope all is well and if you haven't had that baby that you aren't going too stir crazy... :)

I love scrapbooks they are such a fun way to save memories. My family does scrapbook pages for each other for Christmas. Since we live so far apart that is a good way to share our year. And we don't have to send bulky presents.

Sabriena said...

Okay, first of all, what Kali said: "Sabriena says she thinks that dresses that fluff out at all don't really look good" she didn't understand what I was saying, apparently. I am going to explain to her what I meant, and since that was Monday, and Elysha and Maranda were over here, I guess I'll need to explain to them, also, before any rumors get spread.

I like your pictures. Whenever I get a chance to visit, I'll have to take a look at your album. I always love looking at people's wedding pictures. Even people I don't know!

I saw Mom posting her comment, and when she said she was thinking of having a simpler album, I couldn't stand it. "But, Mom," as I said to her, "when I was in Xxxxxx, I was telling them how you have such a cool wedding album, with lace, and all white, and wedding-ey." I know that her album went through the flood, but in a way, that makes it even neater. You can see that it's been through some hard stuff, which means that Mom and Dad have, too.

Anyway, looks like you'll have fun completing that before baby arrives. Definitely better than twiddling your thumbs!
