Day 1 Disneyland Trip

As much as we were looking forward to our big trip to Disneyland we were equally dreading the long hours in the suburban with our two year old, surely sixteen hours of car entrapment would be too much for his small body and mind. When we left it was still dark outside, but the car was warmed and everything had been loaded the night prior. It seemed like a brilliant idea and it definitely paid off. The boys went to bed dressed in their sweatpants and sweatshirts so all that would be required of them was to open their bloodshot eyes and to meander out to the vehicle.

After stopping through the McDonalds drive thru for some morning calories we were off and running. Surprisingly and pleasantly our trip was extremely uneventful. There was no….let me emphasis this…zero temper tantrums on the entire journey to Sacramento. It was ten hours of movies, gameboy games, and music. We had a quick pit stop at a WalMart to pick up cheap snacks and a little doohiggie to give our laptop that extra boost of energy it would need to keep up with the hours of use ahead.

We pulled in to our hotel in Sacramento at suppertime. We unloaded our hefty gear and Den headed out to find us some good eating; well that’s if you consider cheap fast food good grub. Later that evening we hit the outdoor pool and hot tub. You would have thought that we had joined the Polar Bear Club when we went outside to enjoy their outdoor pool by the reaction we received from all the hotel help. I think we could have charged admission by the attention it drew…lol. We explained that it was one of the warmest pools we had ever experienced in their muggy 50 degrees weather. I mean it was nothing compared to the extreme weather we were used to in Washington. We giggled when Roman didn’t even bat an eye upon entering the pool. After spending a good hour in and out of the pool and hot tub we knew that we had a pretty good chance of persuading the boys to hit the hay at a decent hour. After all we still had 6 hours the following day and we wanted to get on the road early enough to get to our final destination to enjoy their pool and stake out the Disney area.

The two older boys stayed home for the week. They have been to Disneyland before and they weren’t up for another crowded trip with their younger brothers. Plus what teen doesn’t look forward to having the house to themselves for the week? Bro. Rusty and Sis. Mary will be in town and has promised to check in on them while we are gone. We didn’t get cell reception until the next day and so we didn’t call until the following morning. I was surprised at the reaction Isaiah gave us when we finally did call. He was legitimately worried about us and was thankful to finally hear from us. Poor baby! We won’t be letting that happen again.

So far so good, and I will be taking lots of pictures, however I am not sure I can upload my pictures on this laptop.....ugh!

WOw, Have fun everyone. We took our two to the Big "D" for the first time this last summer. What a treat for them.
Yes, always, always, we get those silly looks when we stay at a hotel with any kind of standing water. You should of seen us in Portland, we had the place to ourselves and I couldn't get our kids out of the water even with bribing them with Cheesecake Factory! I will pray you have much to laugh about and a safe journey as well. Merry Christmas So. Cal style.

Wow! I am completely amazed that you had the long trip without any problems (of course, I guess you only have one small child). I'm glad for you that the trip went so easily and safely.

I think I would be one of the people staring at you getting into that pool! You MUST be crazy! I'm actually surprised that it would even still be open this time of year. I'm glad you enjoyed your swim though.

I hope you enjoy your trip. We'll be looking forward to seeing you guys again after the Holidays.
