Church At Our House

We had church at our house last night, and I really enjoyed it. Not everyone was able to make it, but we still had a good little sum of people. Most importantly, everyone took part in some way. That did my heart good. To hear the testimonies and prayers in such a tight knit group really bonds you together. When you hear what has been on people's minds, what they are asking the Lord for, or what the Lord has done for them makes it easier to know how to pray for them. It was a real strength to me.

I made brownies after supper just in case anyone wanted to stay behind to visit for a bit longer, and Sis. Tisha had the same thought for she brought over homemade strawberry rhubarb pie and cherry cheesecake. It was a real sweet tooth feast (not like any of us needed that AGAIN....hehehe) However, everyone stayed and visited.

I remember participating in this sort of tradition when I was growing up. Going to someone's house, eating cookies or cakes, and playing with the other kids, and always disappointed when my parents were ready to leave. It was so full of love and fun for us little ones back then, that my heart is comforted to know that my children have this, as well.

I just went to bed so content last night. Thinking about the traditions that we are handing down to our own children. Loving the thought the brethren have been gathered in our home. Praising the Lord, singing hymns, eating pie, giggling with one another, and watching the kids play. This is what life is REALLY all about, isn't it?

It is so nice to find the confort in the little things....Glad you had a good meeting and it does seem to bond you when you hear that the brethern are sometimes facing the same or similar trials...

Yes that is what life is really all about. Sounds like a wonderful time together. Not to mention I love strawberry rhubarb pie, it is my FAVORITE.

Here is the website for the blinkies:

You just type your text and pick your box and then right click and save it to your computer. I think they are cute too and nice to be able to personalize it.

So just wanted to tell you something Luke just said that was really cute. First of all at night he says his prayers and it usually take like 15 min, because he is thinking of everyone that he knows that he wants to pray for he does not want to leave anyone out. So today when I got on your blog he said "who is that" when he saw your picture and of your boys. I told him "that is Trina and her boys" Then he said. "Oh, we need to pray for them." It was really sweet. So I am sure you and your family will now be included in his nightly prayers. He doesn't like to forget anyone..hehe.

I was glad for our little meeting too. I took a little gamble bringing that pie and cheesecake. I wondered if you might be too tired after getting your house ready for company. I enjoyed our visit. I have to admit that the desserts were all Matt's idea; so I can't take credit for that.

Just to let you know, I've decided to leave you page up so I can listen to your music and go about my day. Somehow good music motivates me. Thanks for the motivation! You're really going to have to tell me how to put this on my page!

I'm kind of sad we missed out on the meeting, and getting to visit. Hopefully we can get together sometime soon. Any day next week is looking good for me.

I miss the fellowship of a small "home" church so very much. We are in a gongregation of about 200 now, and you just don't have the opportunity to take the relationships very deep. Also... the late nights with snacks... totally a God thing! ~Karlie

Travis will be home in a little bit. I think I'll see if he wants to go visiting or ask some of the brethern over for a singing and pumpkin goodies.(; I sure miss those days and want my children to have the same memories.

Oh the memories. We are having some young kids in this weekend and I am looking forward to singing, eating, and good ole memory making activities!

Those memories are so precious. I have some of the same and thank the Lord my children have the same memories.

Meetings are so edifying when we all go with the heart and mind to want to do our part and not just be a bench warmer. Sometimes it is easy to expect someone else will pray or testify or preach but we all need to do our part.

There is something very special that happens in the atomsphere of a home when church or bible study was held there. It's amazing. What a beautiful time you must have had.

I have actually only once went to someone's house for church. I've rarely sat in small assemblies. It would definately be a different experience for me. I have sat in large assemblies where not very many people labor, which I'm SURE God is disappointed with. And in small assemblies, everyone probably feels that there is a need to press in and ask the Lord what he would have for them to do. But it sounds like everyone had a wonderful rejoicing and fellowship, that is so nice to hear :)

Sometimes I have to remind myself that my definition of church is just that, mine. The Lord promises to be wherever two or three are gathered in His name. It is wonderful that you are sharing your love for God and His people with your kids!

I know this doesn't have anything to do with this post, but i was just thinking about you today :). I sing when i clean my house and the song "thank you lord for your blessings on me" came to my mind and i remembered that you recorded yourself singing it a few months ago and posted it on here. That was really sweet! Maybe you could post another one soon? =D
