A Packing We Will Go.......

Packing for a weekend getaway is such a pain! It is enough to keep me from going anywhere. I have the older boys make a list to keep track of their belongings. Yes, even down to their underwear and how many they brought. I am tired of leaving things behind, and guess what? The list works!

I was talking to Cherrie this morning and she mentioned that it shouldn't be that bad since I really only had to pack for two kids. However, I cleared that little theory up....hehehe At the campout, after we arrived, River realized that he forgot his clothes entirely. All he had was the clothes on his back. So, although, I don't have to, actually, pack for him I have to remember to remind him to bring his stuff. Keep in mind I am in a house of all males!

Levi has to have his stuff inspected. Who knows what he may slip into that duffle bag for church on Sunday morning. That very fear makes me check, and recheck his bag. Plus, Den has never packed for himself in our married life, well maybe once or twice. Lesson learned. That is MY job! lol

The worst part of this is the thought that in another six months I will have another baby to pack for, and you know how that goes. Everything comes with us, except the kitchen sink. People are always asking us to come stay with them and I am brutally honest at times and just say, "Yeah....maybe. Well....probably not." hahaha I am much more of a day trip kind of girl now. If we pack up this herd its for something special. Yes, seeing my mom is something special. I haven't seen her, but once, since we have lived down here.

So here we go! Laundry is whirling, duffle bags are askew, sleeping bags are being unearthed as we are preparing for our short 2.5 hour journey. Poor Mom.....I hope she remembers what it's like to be bombarded by her youngest daughter's family of 7!

Ready or not.....Here We Come!!!

You sound so much like us.I pretty much always have a list and aways have to ask everyone if they got there stuff.Brian like Den does not pack his own clothes tho I do sometimes ask if there is anything special he wants to take .Like today for instanse I asked him what shirt for the funeral (last funeral we went to he didn't like what i brought him).Elise is the only one that packs her own and I still ask her if she got all the esentails.lol well I need to get things finished meeting Brian and Chantel in Terrebonne at 11:30 ,she is traveling over with us.

Michelle: I am so glad that I am not alone in this! I will see you down there. It sounds like the funeral will be a good turnout.

LOL!

I haven't packed for my daughter since she was 10. And she never seems to miss anything.

The boys on the other hand....

A list is a fabulous idea!! When we came back from Rockport, John realized he forgot his sneakers!! Mind you he only brought 2 pair of shoes. His sandals & his sneakers. How could one not be able to keep track of 2? Well, they are being mailed home.

Yup, I agree, weekend trips are nice. And we will talk ourselves into believing they are worth all the packing and unpakcing. :)

PS, I am waiting for the all-I-have-are-the-clothes-on-my-back scenerio to happen here. I think I have a winner in Samuel. lol.

Have a great trip, so this means a Road Trip to Montana is not in the near future for your family? Dang it!!

Marshall always packs his own as he has to many childhood memories of "why did you bring this?" and "where is my .......?"
Luckily, everywhere we go is kinda close to a Walmart. My kids get everything themselves then put it on the table for inspection. Then they can load it into their bags and into the car.

Trina,
The overfilled car picture that you have on this post looks like my van...except my van looks like that all the time, not just on vacation!
