Homeschool Shelf Is A Success

Here is the formal dining room. Whatever that means....lol. Well I guess the kids don't eat in here daily. We do have a kitchen nook. This will be the place we sit and do our schoolwork, daily, though. The table is old, but loveable. We hope to purchase a black one, eventually, but for now this one has been the one I have educated ALL my boys on so far. It's sort of special in that way. We are considering making another computer purchase. We have a laptop, but it isn't the most dependable. Besides I like the idea of another desktop so the boys are not tempted with running off with it, all the time. When something stays put in this house, the longer it seems to last. Coincidence? I think NOT! hehehe

Here is my handy dandy shelf that I just purchased at Target for 14.99. ( Thanks Lori for the advice, it has been heeded.) Can't beat that price! It fits perfect in our dining room next to the antique pump organ. I am really pleased with it. The top, purple totes are full of flashcards, crayons, stickers, and markers. All the things that would have Roman salivating! Therefore, they have been hidden. Lovin' that!

I also went through our homeschool stuff. I put up the grades that we won't be needing this year. It's always amazing how much stuff we have collected through the years, but as times go on I have been weeding out the purchases that were only full of regrets. Ohhhh if I had all the dollars back that were invested, and ended up going down the drain. Well, as I tell my boys, "live and learn", right?

I still have a few more purchases to make, but we are pretty much ready to go. I am still grading a few final chapters in some of Levi's books from last year, but all seems to be on track, and that feels GREAT!

I will share with you some of the other purchases, that we will be making, that I feel will help us make the school year complete.

Great organization! The room looks so nice and ready for hungry to learn boys :) I love getting organized for back to school in our home. I seem to do it differently every year, but a fresh start always feels so good. I should do it again in January when things seem to fall out of place til summer - hee hee. Hope you have a great school year, and that things cont. well with baby!

The room looks great and I also love getting ready to teach. I wondered if that was your old table Trina. That is special. I finally put my old table away, essays and all inscribed into the wood. So fun to see your house.

I've been so busy and I was just catching up on some blogs. I've missed so much. Love the pictures from the beach. You have a great group of guys that you're surrounded by. Love the set up for school. Looks like you are well prepared.

Congratulations on the award. You really deserve it. You are very, very nice in your comments.

I love the shelf in the dining room! I might just steal that idea from you. Andy does his school work at the table too and what better than to have all the school stuff right there handy!

Looks very organized! I love how inspiring it is *just* to organize something. :)

Also, I love your dining room kitchen chairs. I hope to get a new table here in the next few months. The table we are using now is small and only seats 4 people. It has definitly served its purpose, but I would love to be able to invite company over, and not put my elbow in their plate! ;)

We have the same little organizer thing. We call it our schoolboxes. Each one of us has our own "box". Beware, though, of when somebody tries to put something in that is too big. If they are about 10 and under. (At least in our family). And here is what will happen: apparently they can't figure out that it doesn't fit, so they just put it in anyway. Then everybody in the family gets mad at them, because the whole thing has to be set up again and everybody has to put their numerous "school things" back in.

Looks great. I have some of those cube shelves and had problems with them coming apart. I used cable ties /zip ties to put them together and they are much sturdier. If you have problems - try that before getting too frustrated.

I love seeing how people have their school area set up.

I love reading about your school year preparations!
I am almost ready...but not quite. I need to get in there and organize.
Also loved the pictures from the beach...that one of everyone in a row is frameable material!
Congratulations on the nice Matters Award! Glad you got it...you deserve it. :-)
Well, gotta go do laundry and wash the car.
'See' you later!
