All the Fixin's for the 4th!

Levi with his water bottle waiting to antagonize his little brothers.
Abram and Roman running through the sprinkler. Watch out for the bushes boys, there may be snakes in them-there bushes!

You can't really see the sprinkler action, but it was a lot of fun! Yes, Roman is saturated in sunblock so that's almost like he's dressed, right?

Another 4th of July came and went, and, I have to say, it was one of the nicest ones we have had in a while. We had big dreams for it, we even talked big about what we might do, but the morning of the 4th rolled around, and we got lazy. Yep, and than our thoughts about how to celebrate it got lazier...and...... lazier........ and lazier, until we thought it was the best idea we had ever had! Den and I are compatible like that!

You see, the whole thing took a down hill swing when Den didn't get home from work until 1am the night before. Yep, you heard me right. I know I know.....what does a senior superintendent have to do at a job until 1am, was the common question I got from everyone, yesterday. So let me explain briefly....he had to babysit other workers. You know the kind of workers that won't finish the job unless someone is standing over them with a baseball bat? Therefore, our 4th of July plans were kind of put on the "Let's just stay home and relax" burner.

First thing in the morning we went to the store. We ate breakfast out with the little guy (Roman), picked up stuff for a good BBQ, bought a small wading pool, one of those crazy fun sprinklers, of course, we stopped by the fireworks stand and splurged on a few things that blow up, go kaboom, and even that disappointingly fizzle! A good time was gonna be had by all, right from our own backyard. No fighting traffic, no carrying coolers for long distances and having to stop to sit on it for a breather, no keeping track of kids in large crowds, no ewwwing and ahhing over gorgeous fireworks that were lit up in the sky by professionals. No sirreee bob, we were gonna be the lazy sort that did it all, 10 feet from our kitchen. Yeppers!

It was a scorcher of a day, so as soon as we got home we put the pool and sprinkler to work. We brought lawn chairs out to put around the pool, and we all splashed about and had a great time. River, Levi and Abram (Isaiah is spending a week or more with his best friend Andy) got to go see "Transformers" the movie, too. So I think we did a decent job of imprinting this holiday on their minds, even if we did take the L-A-Z-Y way out.

Sounds like you all had a wonderful fun day. It is nice to stay home and not have to fight the crowds and the traffic. We did all that this year but the timing and all worked out really well for us and it wasn't as much work as it usually is. =) I hope the boys didn't run across any more snakes! Yikes!

Sounds wonderful! Andy and Isaiah went to transformers the day before, so now your whole crew has seen the show. We did our fireworks Tuesday night at John and Lauries, then after church wed. the boys went with the teenagers to see a fireworks show in town.

That doesn't sound lazy, but like a good time. I love the Pic of Roman and your backyard looks so pretty.

Happy 4th to you.

That sounds like our 4th of July....Lazy!! We stayed home all day in the nice cool house, and played some games. We did go see the fireworks near our house, but not downtown where the huge crowd was....It was a nice day.

I think the best days are the ones that happen spur of the moment. Sounds like a good day to me!

Leah: Yeah, when you go out to see the fireworks and everything falls into place, than it was all worth it! No snakes reared their ugly little heads that day..whew!

Lori: It was one of the best 4ths we've had in years, to be honest. Even the boys said so. Hey the sprinkler and snakes came to my mind too...trust me! However, the boys didn't care one bit...lol

Chantel: I am sure Isaiah is having a GREAT time! Im glad he got to see Transformers too, that the way the boys can compare notes now!

Mrs. Martin: It was really wonderful! Roman was a nakie baby, and loved the freedom of it all...hehehe The backyard is really in full bloom. The owners did a great job landscaping. We want to copy it all when we buy our house.

Marisela: It sounds like a great day! Games? My boys would have been digging that too! The little fireworks are so fun too, and no traffic! Yay!

Cheryl: We thought about your little town, but than though Nah! Still too much work and crowded! Let me stresss......LAZY!!!

Angel: We are defiinitely spur of the moment people. Thankfully, Den and I both are, so it works out great!

Snakes....e-gads.
I have one of those in a ten gallon aquarium as we speak. His name is Anaconda. Oh, if he ever escapes I will be one unhappy Momma.
Glad to see your able to stay cool through this heat. I thought California was bad. We got home to temps in the 100's.
I missed so much blogging, but I am slowly catching up.

Oh, envy. We had the typical 4th. You know, run your children ragged and pump them full of sugar and hot dogs then wonder why they melt down before the fire works.
Your day sounds MUCH better than mine.
You have a BEAUTIFUL backyard my friend! We live out in the country now (we get wheat, weeds, and wild flowers), but sometimes I miss a landscaped yard. ~Karlie

Sounds a little like ours. I was just getting over being sick, and James was sick. Yuck, still it was fun.
