Hello? Is Anyone There?

We have been without a phone since last Friday night. The night of Abrams birthday party we had a bunch of guests come up, which also meant using our washed out driveway. I am sure you all remember how our driveway had eroded away from the snow melting and pond overflowing. It was, and is, a huge mess. So the driveway was so mushy and tore up that one of our friends' boys got his truck stuck in the mud, off to the side of it. He got in pretty deep and his truck tore up our phone lines as we were trying to pull him out. It could have been any one of us with that sludge. They dont bury those phone lines very deep, don't ya know? So anyway, we noticed that the phone stopped working at that time.

So we called for a phone guy to come and check it out to see what they could do to solve the problem. We were told they wouldn't be able to send someone until Wednesday. Uggghhh. So he showed up yesterday, and sure enough he said that the phone line was tore apart. He also said that the mud was too soupy there and that he wanted to wait for it to dry out before they fixed it. Hello...dry out? I'd like a phone again before Summer. The end result was that they would come back in a few days with a backhoe and redig and fix the line. Not sure WHEN exactly though.

Luckily it wont cost us a dime, and we have cell phones to get us by. I also have sattellite internet, so life is pretty good. I dont feel like I have much to complain about really. However, you sure miss something once its gone.

The only phone I have now is a cell phone. It's practical for me but probably not for a family.

We have dial-up...I would DIE if my phones were out....literally, lol!

I must say, though, that after seeing the view from your deck, I'd take my phones being out for being able to live in such a beautiful place!

they will probbly come back and attach it to a pole and not have enough line and you will be like Green Acres having to climb the pole to use the phone.

Wow, that would be tough to be without a phone, you have my sympathies. Thank goodness for the phone man coming to check it out for you and maybe giving you a ray of hope. You know my Grandpa was a phone man for years I've been told, seems he also had to go to peoples house to repair lines as well. He is a good man...Well hope your situation works out soon.

Mike: We have thought of that as an option. I think we may go with Vonage since its sattellite and we already have that all set up. Ohhh the possibilities....

WriteWingNut: The view is awful PURDY! LOL And if I yell loud enough it may echo, that could be one way to communicate.

Pirate: Oh Mercy!!! Its a good thing I am raising a bunch of monkeys then. LOL

Anonymous: How sweet of you to be concerned. Maybe your Grandpa could shimmy my pole and fix our line...hehehe

Cheryl: Yeah I feel silly complaining really, since I have cell phones and sattelite internet, sounds down right spoiled.

Trina,
We switched phone service this week and I was without a phone for about an hour. I almost went crazy! LOL! I was also without DSL service for a week. It was a good thing that I was so busy with sick kids or I may have gone batty!

I hope that they get your lines fixed real soon.

I am sorry about your troubles. We got rid of our land line a long time ago. We realized that we never used it because we always use our cell phones and email for everything. Also, we are going to get some headphones so we can use Skype: http://www.skype.com/helloagain.html
